Signed Edition: Ghost Arrives at a Party too Early, waits for a Stranger to Catch Her Eye (2021)
About Ghost Arrives at a Party too Early, waits for a Stranger to Catch Her Eye:
She drinks too quickly, desperate for something to do with her hands. In her head, she practices the lines she’s pretty sure she’s going to fumble: “excuse me, do you know where I can find the kitchen/ more wine / the bathroom?” She floats back and forth between these locations, hoping that the stranger she eventually asks doesn’t notice that she’s clearly learned her way around already. Her glass is empty again. She waits for somebody to notice that she’s got a question.

About GHOST DRESS
One of the most difficult parts of writing Sanatorium (2020) was describing the sensation of out-of-body experience. Eventually, I ran out of words and ended up going into my studio late at night, with a haunted nightgown. While the images didn’t make it into the book, they helped me shape the language of floating, lightness and climbing out of my own skin.
In the end, the haunted dress in the photo shoot developed its own character and identity beyond Sanatorium. Ghost Dress is tense and awkward. She arrives at parties at the wrong time and hovers in the hallway, waiting for a stranger to catch her eye. It takes her a long time to muster enough energy to enjoy herself, but when she does she quickly becomes so elevated, she thinks she will never find the floor again. When she falls, it is hard to remember she was ever full of air…

Most orders are packed and shipped by me (Abi Palmer) from London, UK.
High-quality giclée prints are distributed separately through The Print Space.
Please note: I’m an independent artist with a chronic illness running a very small business, so I generally only ship once a week — thank you for supporting my weird art!

Yes!

Small, flat orders (stickers, tattoos, cards) ship free within the UK.
A £10 minimum spend applies to all orders.

I currently ship directly through this website.
Every parcel is packed by hand and includes full customs documentation.
What are your international shipping rates?
Europe: £10
USA & Canada: £12
Rest of world: £15
Free international shipping on orders over £50!
Use code SHIPFREE at checkout.
This offer excludes giclée prints fulfilled by The Print Space.

Will I have to pay import tax or customs fees?
If you’re ordering from outside the UK:
You may be charged local VAT, import tax, or handling fees depending on your country’s postal system.
All parcels are clearly marked with item descriptions and values as required by law.
I cannot refund or cancel orders if you choose not to pay a customs or import fee. If your order is returned to me, I’m happy to resend it once — but you’ll need to cover the new postage cost.
If you’re ever unsure, feel free to ask me before ordering.
EU Customers
Since Brexit, EU parcels can occasionally get delayed in customs. I send all international parcels tracked so you can follow your order’s progress. Most arrive smoothly within the delivery times below, but customs delays are outside my control.
US & Canada Customers
The US currently applies a baseline import tariff (around 10%) to UK goods, and in some cases higher duties on textiles or accessories.
These charges are set by US Customs and Border Protection and are the buyer’s responsibility.
I’ll always declare the correct value and country of origin on customs forms, but I can’t estimate or guarantee what your local fees will be.
How long will my order take to arrive?
UK
2-4 working days from dispatch
Europe
5-10 working days from dispatch
USA/Canada
7-14 working days from dispatch
Rest of world
10-20 working days from dispatch
Please note I’m one artist with a chronic illness running this on top of my creative practice and show installs, so I normally only post once a week. You’ll get a dispatch email when your order leaves my studio.
If you need your item by a certain date, please contact me at [email protected] and I’ll do my best to reach you.
My order hasn’t arrived — what do I do?
You will be notified when your item has been dispatched. Please wait until the maximum estimated delivery time for your region. If it’s been longer than that, drop me an email at [email protected] with your order number, and I’ll investigate. I’ll always do my best to help!
Can I order a gift?
Absolutely — just leave a note at checkout. I can include a handwritten tag or a sluggy picture on request.
RETURNS & REFUNDS
Can I return or exchange an item?
Because this is a tiny independent artist-run shop, I can’t usually offer returns or exchanges unless something goes wrong.
That said, I really want you to love what you’ve ordered!
If your item arrives damaged, faulty, or incorrect, email [email protected] within 14 days of receiving it, and I’ll sort it out as quickly as possible.
My item arrived damaged / I received the wrong item
I’m so sorry! Please email within 14 days, including:
A photo of the item
Your order number
I’ll replace it where possible, or offer a refund or shop credit if stock is no longer available.
I changed my mind — can I return it?
Unfortunately I can’t accept returns if you’ve simply changed your mind, especially for small items like stickers, tattoos, or sale items. I’m a very small operation and each item is packed with care — I appreciate your understanding!
If you need to make an amendment (size, colour, item) BEFORE the product has been dispatched, email me at [email protected] and I’ll do my best!
What about clothing sizes?
I include full measurements and sizing info on clothing listings. If you’re unsure, feel free to message me before ordering — I’m happy to help guide you. For hygiene reasons, I can’t accept returns on worn items unless they’re faulty.
Do I have to pay return shipping?
If your item was faulty, I’ll cover return shipping where required. For any agreed returns, please don’t send anything back without contacting me first.
What about international orders?
Same policy applies — if your item is damaged or missing, contact me within 14 days of delivery. I’ll do my best to replace or refund.
Please note that I can’t refund international customs duties or VAT — those are handled by your country’s postal system.
When will I receive my refund?
Once a return is agreed and (if required) the item is received back, I’ll process your refund within 5 working days via your original payment method.
